Do you ever walk into the shed wondering how much more you’d use the space if it had a concrete floor?
There are a few concrete options for the shed floor to consider depending on its use:
- What do you plan to use the shed for? Vehicle storage, workshop, games room, entertainment?
- Is it connected to the house? Does it need to complement the house design?
For example, you may want your shed or garage to store household items, cars or boats in which case you would need something durable and non-slip. Or it might be an extension of the house and provide an entertainment/patio area which ideally needs a smoother surface to walk on.
It may also be an open space for small kids riding their bikes or running around, and in this case, you will want a smoother surface to go easier on little knees if they fall over.
With these needs in mind, here are some options.
Coloured concrete
Coloured concrete can be installed with a smooth finish which is easy to sweep clean. An application of sealer will protect it from oil spills etc. Integral coloured concrete, with colour all through the concrete comes in a large range of colours to suit many housing styles.
Come in to our showroom at 1 Maple Avenue, Forestville to see some of the colours and samples.
Exposed aggregate concrete
Exposed aggregate is also a good choice for shed and garage floors. You can choose a finer aggregate exposure so that it is smoother to walk on, looks stylish if it used as an entertainment area and durable enough to accommodate vehicles and trailers.
Stamped concrete
Stamped concrete has been around for a long time but is making a bit of a come back in popularity.
There are several slate and tile styles which work well for a shed or garage floor that might become something else in the future.
Handcrafted Saw-cut Styles
If you like the look of high end pavers, our handcrafted saw-cut concrete paving can provide a smooth and sleek appearance.
They look like high end pavers or tiles but are flat enough for tables and chairs to sit on without wobbling.
Sealing the concrete
All the concrete styles above can be sealed with a good protective concrete sealer so that oil stains or other dirt will not penetrate below the surface and become permanent.
In areas where there is potential for staining, it is a good idea to reseal every few years. Other than a that all our concrete paving styles are very durable and will only need an occasional clean and wash down.
