The planning for the Minda Redevelopment Project began in 2007 and this $260 million vision on 28 hectares is finally coming to life.
Minda’s vision was to create high quality, integrated and leading edge accommodation and services to South Australians with a disability, with a vibrant community hub that enabled social inclusion and integration.
The site which is on King George Avenue in North Brighton, has 500 metres of coastal frontage and includes large blocks of units and single living dwellings for Minda residents. It is also adjacent to a retirement housing project called Brighton Dunes.
We were thrilled to win this large commercial concrete project. The Minda redevelopment project installation includes exposed aggregate concrete driveways to the buildings, the footpaths around buildings, entrances, back patios, crossovers and garden curbing.
Our attention to detail is what wins us large commercial concrete projects in Adelaide
We subcontracted to Sarah Constructions and as of today are about a third of the way into the project. We expect this project will take about 12 months to complete.
One of the reasons we win large commercial projects of this magnitude is the planning and execution that we offer simply because of the breadth of knowledge and experience that we have.
We work through many months of planning, drawings, designs, creating samples, endless price discussions, project delivery commitments, changes and refinements that go patiently back and forth between all parties involved – ourselves and our clients.
Once design and plans are complete, the next stage is execution. Developers have to deliver the project to required timeframes, design and budgets, and we have to meet these as part of their overall project scope.
Exposed aggregate concrete laid properly finishes off a commercial development perfectly
As with all our large commercial projects, the colours, the texture and finish all make the final difference between exposed aggregate concrete that looks bland, and concrete that lifts and complements the development. In the case of the Adelaide Airport, we developed the Milled and Sandblast finish which is now being used successfully in residential properties.
For Minda, we used four different types of exposed concrete aggregate that suited an urban and contemporary environment. They had to be finer in texture for a smoother finish to walk on easily and a durable blend to ensure longevity.
This large scale commercial concrete experience has flowed into our residential market
We have laid more than 2 million square metres of concrete across Adelaide over the last 30 years.
We are experienced and affordable and with our longevity in the marketplace, you can be assured that the concrete that we install will beautify and complement your home. And we are always here in our showroom in Forestville if you need to discuss anything after the job is complete.
